A partnership with Te Whatu Ora and NO UGLY, the ARL Aunties became a movement in 2023, bringing positive reinforcement to the sidelines, and generating warm PR in the process - Aunties were on every major platform, including TVNZ Seven Sharp, NZ Herald, Sunday Star Times, and Crowd Goes Wild.

The ARL Aunties is initiative borne out of the role that wahine play in our community, but especially in rugby league. If you get praise from your ARL Aunty, you feel magic. You are never mean to your Aunty. You always do want Aunty says.  The Aunties are about positive reinforcement. We wanted to see if we could change outcomes, even things like alcohol harm, by modelling great behaviour and injecting fun.
